Allāhumma faqqihnī fi-d-dīn.
O Allah, grant me a deep understanding of the religion.
اے اللہ مجھے دین کی گہری سمجھ عطا فرما۔
Ibn ‘Abbās (radiy Allāhū ‘anhumā) reported: “Once the Prophet (ﷺ) entered a lavatory and I placed water for his ablution. He asked, “Who placed it?” He was informed accordingly and so he said, “O Allah! Grant him (Ibn ‘Abbas) a deep understanding of the religion.”(Bukhārī 143)In another narration Ibn ‘Abbās (radiy Allāhū ‘anhumā) reported: Once the Prophet ﷺ embraced me and said, “O Allah! Bestow on him the knowledge of the Book (Qur’an). ” (Bukhārī 75)
ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک غسل خانے میں داخل ہوئے اور میں نے آپ کے وضو کے لیے پانی رکھا، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پوچھا: یہ کس نے رکھا ہے؟ آپ کو اس کی اطلاع دی گئی تو آپ نے فرمایا: اے اللہ! اسے (ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہ) کو دین کی گہری سمجھ عطا فرما۔‘‘ (بخاری 143) ایک اور روایت میں ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھے گلے لگایا اور فرمایا: اے اللہ! اسے کتاب (قرآن) کا علم عطا فرما۔ (بخاری 75)
