All-Encompassing Nur (Light)

Kurayb reported that ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbbās (radiy Allāhū ‘anhumā) reported that he spent (one night) in the house of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood near the water-skin and poured water out of it and performed ablution in which he neither used excess of water nor too little of it. He also mentioned that on that night the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made supplication before Allah in nineteen words. Kuraib reported: I remember twelve words out of these, but have forgotten the rest. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: [the above].” (Muslim 763)It is mentioned in another version of this narration:ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbbās (radiy Allāhū ‘anhumā) reported that he spent (one night) in the house of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He ﷺ got up, brushed his teeth and performed ablution and said: “In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of the night and the day, there are indeed signs for people of understanding.” (Quran: 3:190), to the end of the Surah. He then stood up and prayed two rak’ahs, standing, bowing and prostrating at length in them. Then he finished, went to sleep and snored. He did that three times, six rak’ahs altogether, each time cleaning his teeth, performing ablution, and reciting these verses. Then he observed three rak’ahs of Witr. The Mu’adhdhin then pronounced the Adhan and he went out for Salah and was saying: [similiar to the above].” (Muslim 763)

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے روایت کیا کہ انہوں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کے گھر میں ایک رات گزاری۔ انہوں نے فرمایا: "رسول اللہ ﷺ پانی کے مشکیزے کے پاس کھڑے ہوئے، اس میں سے پانی نکالا اور وضو کیا جس میں نہ بہت زیادہ پانی استعمال کیا اور نہ ہی بہت کم۔ انہوں نے یہ بھی بیان کیا کہ اس رات رسول اللہ ﷺ نے اللہ کے سامنے انیس الفاظ میں دعا کی۔ کریب نے روایت کیا: مجھے ان میں سے بارہ الفاظ یاد ہیں لیکن باقی بھول گیا۔ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: [اوپر بیان کردہ دعا]۔" (مسلم 763) اس روایت کے ایک دوسرے ورژن میں مذکور ہے: "عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے روایت کیا کہ انہوں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کے گھر میں ایک رات گزاری۔ آپ ﷺ اٹھے، مسواک کی اور وضو کیا اور فرمایا: 'بے شک آسمانوں اور زمین کی تخلیق اور رات اور دن کے آنے جانے میں عقل والوں کے لیے نشانیاں ہیں۔' (قرآن: 3:190)، سورت کے آخر تک۔ پھر آپ ﷺ کھڑے ہوئے اور دو رکعتیں ادا کیں، جن میں طویل قیام، رکوع اور سجدے کیے۔ پھر آپ ﷺ نے نماز مکمل کی، لیٹ گئے اور خراٹے لینے لگے۔"
